3. English Listening Lesson Library Online (ELLLO)

Elllo is an educational platform created by Todd Beuckens, an English teacher based in Japan. The site offers students with hundreds of free listening, reading and vocabulary materials. They usually come in the format of pre-recorded monologues or discussions in which people talk about a certain topic. They also include the script of the conversation, vocabulary information, and a quiz. What it’s interesting about this site is that the content is divided by the language proficiency levels and the speakers come from different countries, so students get used to the different English accents.

4. Write & improve

Write & improve, in partnership with Cambridge English (belonging to the University of Cambridge) is a free platform for English learners that want to improve their writing skills. Students choose which English proficiency level they belong to (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) and they are provided with a wide number of topics to write a text about. When the text is sent, they provide immediate feedback and allow students to make the necessary changes. Students can also monitor their progress with a graphics system.

The EF English Grammar Guide is a platform providing free English resources aimed at improving the student’s usage of grammar and vocabulary. They offer an English grammar guide with the rules explained as well as vocabulary lists with the most common words in English. Though both the grammar guide and vocabulary lists are not explained in context, they are useful if we, as teachers, need to review certain aspects of the English language or if our students have a question about grammar.
