How is my 4-week Online Trinity College CertTESOL done

The 4 Week Online Trinity CertTESOL course covers real-world teaching methodologies, grammar structures, teaching practice classes with non-English speaking students from the Beginner’s (A1 – A2) level all through to the Advanced (C1) level, structured lesson planning, student´s needs´ analysis, Business English and much more. Units 1 – 5 will be covered in 4 weeks. With each week completed, trainees evolve into confident and highly employable English teachers ready to travel and live the world.

Here is a sneak peek at what is covered in our Online Trinity College CertTESOL course. There will be 4 weeks featured, Day 1 – 5 of each week clearly outlined. We start with week 1 in this article.


The online Trinity CertTESOL course week 1 schedule

DAY 1

Day 1 live classes

Welcome and introductions (Live, 1 hour)

This is where you, your peers and your trainer(s) get to meet each other for the first time.

You will also be told:

  1. What to expect during the course.
  2. Details about each of the 5 units you must pass in order to get the CertTESOL.
  3. Administrative information about the course schedule, teaching practice classes, uploading your assignments and the end of course external moderation.

Unit 5: Unknown language – lesson 1 (Live, 1 hour)

This is a live input session where you are a student learning a foreign language taught by your trainer.

Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Guided observation – lesson 1 (Live, 1 hour)

This is a live input session to observe and comment on a class given by an experienced English teacher.

Trainer support for the remaining day’s activities (Live, 1 hour)

Your trainer will be available to provide additional input and take your questions.

This is a live input session where your trainer will give you an explanation of CertTESOL Unit 3: Learner Profile.

Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Lesson planning workshop for lessons 1 and 2 (Live, 2 hours)

This is a live input session where you will begin to create lesson plans for teaching practice classes 1 and 2.

DAY 3

Day 3 live classes

Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Lesson planning workshop for lessons 1 and 2 (Live, 1 hour)

This is a live input session where you will continue developing your lesson plans for teaching practice classes 1 and 2.

Unit 5: Unknown language – lesson 2 (Live, 1 hour)

This is a live input session where you are a student learning a foreign language taught by your trainer.

Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Micro Teaching lesson plans 1 and 2 (Live, 2 hours)

You will present a 15-minute outline of your lesson plans to the group and receive feedback from the trainer and your peers.

Week 1 done, good job. Now you are off to a relaxing weekend or maybe spend some more time putting the finishing touches to your assignments and uploading them. If you have kept to your deadlines and uploaded your assignments on time, you deserve a treat and a day trip out of Madrid is a good idea. There is an EBC blog on Segovia, and I must say, Segovia looks interesting!
