Week four of your 4-week Online Trinity College CertTESOL

The last week. Only the external moderation is left and then I qualify as a Trinity CertTESOL trained English teacher.

DAY 16

Upload all unit work so far into the Moderation Zone

Day 16 live classes

Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Final progress tutorial (Live, 2 hours)

Individual tutorial (in private) with your trainer about your previous two teaching practice classes and your progress.

All Units – Corrections and completion (Live, 1 hour)

Your trainer will be available to provide additional input and take your questions.

Trainer support for the remaining day’s activities (Live, 1 hour)

Your trainer will be available to provide additional input and take your questions.

  • Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Teaching challenges and how to overcome them (self-study)
  • Unit 2: Language Awareness – Pronunciation (self-study)
  • Unit 2: Language Awareness – Frequency Adverbs, Comparatives, Superlatives (self-study)
  • Unit 2: Language Awareness- Functional Language (self-study)
  • Unit 2: Language Awareness- World Englishes (self-study)

DAY 17

  • Unit 1: Teaching Skills – How to teach reported speech (self-study)
  • Unit 1: Teaching Skills – How to teach time and relative clauses (self-study)
  • Unit 1: Teaching Skills – How to teach prepositions (self-study)
  • Unit 1: Teaching skills – Introduction to popular English exams (self-study)
  • Unit 1: Teaching skills – Teaching English in different contexts: EAP, ESP and Online (self-study)

 

Day 17 live classes

Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Recap of the main theories of TEFL (Live, 1 hour)

Your trainer will provide a recap of all the main TEFL theories.

Unit 2: Language Awareness – English language test final preparation (Live, 3 hours)

Your trainer is on hand to give additional information, advice and answer questions about tomorrows English language test.


DAY 18

Day 18 live classes

Unit 2: Language Awareness – English language test (Live, 1 hour and 15 minutes)

You will take the English language test under exam conditions.

  • Unit 2: Language Awareness – Articles, Countable and Uncountable nouns (self-study)
  • Unit 2: Language Awareness – Both, Neither, Either, Some and Any, Quantity: How much / many? (self-study)
  • Unit 2: Language Awareness – Each and Every, Make and Do, Rise and Raise, So and Such (self-study)
  • Unit 1: Teaching Skills – EFL testing and feedback (self-study)
  • Unit 1: Teaching skills – Introduction to Special Educational Needs “SEN” (self-study)
  • Unit 1: Teaching skills – Continuing Professional Development (self-study)
  • All Units – Finalise and upload all your course unit work into the Moderation Zone (self-study)

DAY 19

Day 19 live classes

Unit 1: Teaching Skills Peer teaching on a trainer allocated theme (observed, not assessed) (Live, 3 hours)

You will teach a short class (no longer than 15 minutes) to the group and receive feedback from the trainer and your peers on a trainer assigned topic.

Unit 1: Teaching Skills – Moderation interview preparation (Live, 1 hour)

The trainer will explain what to expect at the Moderation interview and answer any questions you may have.

DAY 20

Day 20 live classes

Unit 2: Language Awareness – Language Assessment test results published (Live, 1 hour)

You will be individually given your English language test results and trainer feedback.

External moderation interviews covering all Units and Unit 4 final assessment (Live, 4 hours)

This is your interview with the appointed Trinity CertTESOL Moderator.

Your performance at this interview determines if you pass or fail the course.

You will receive a ZOOM link by email for this class which you must open on the scheduled date and time.

You will meet as a group and also individually.

You will be given an appointment time for the individual interview.

The individual interview is where you, your course work and your Unit 4: Materials Assignment are all assessed by the Moderator.


This is it – moderation day.

EBC has prepared me for this interview so I feel confident.

It was an intensive course, but it was worth it because I feel very well-prepared to teach.

I cannot wait to get my CertTESOL certificate and travel the world.
