What does "dual award" certification mean?
Dual Award certification means that you get a TESOL and a TEFL certificate which means you are trained to teach in any English language classroom in the world, including teaching online.
How to apply and entry requirements
How do I apply for a course?
Make sure that you meet the Trinity CertTESOL entry requirements or the Trinity CertPT entry requirements, fill out an application form and then attend an admission interview.
What formal qualifications do I need to do the course?

Is there an age limit?
Trinity will allow someone to attend who is at least 18 years old on the course start date.
Can I take the course if English is not my first language?
English does not have to be your first language but you must be able to demonstrate a high level of English language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, whether it is a first, second or foreign language for you.

Do I need to have taught before to be able to do the course?
The Trinity CertTESOL course is designed for those with little or no experience of teaching English.

How much do courses cost?
The tuition cost for our Trinity CertTESOL face-to-face virtual classroom course is 1,390 Euros.
The tuition cost for our Trinity CertTESOL face-to-face Madrid classroom course is 1,790 Euros.
The tuition cost for our Business English Trinity CertPT course is 899 Euros.
The tuition cost for our Communicative Language Teaching Trinity CertPT course is 899 Euros.
The tuition cost for our Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) Trinity CertPT course is 899 Euros.
The tuition cost for our Teaching English online Trinity CertPT course is 899 Euros.

Where can I take a course?
You can take the CertTESOL course online wherever you want in our live streaming virtual classroom or in our training centre in Madrid, Spain.
You take the CertPT course online at home in our virtual classroom.
Can I take the Trinity College London courses online?
Yes, we offer the Trinity CertTESOL as an online TESOL course taught live in our virtual classroom.
We also offer the Business English CertPT, Communicative Language Learning CertPT, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) CertPT or Teaching English online CertPT which are taught live in our virtual classroom.
When do the courses start?

How long are the courses?
The CertTESOL course has 200 hours of study, four weeks full-time.
The CertPT course has 100 hours of study, six weeks part-time.
Examinations, results, and certificate delivery
Do I have to take an examination at the end of the course?
CertTESOL
You will have to produce five written assignments during the course, including a test of grammar and phonology. You will also have to complete a minimum of six hours of teaching practice with genuine learners of English. All the above must be completed to Trinity standards, and you will be given lots of professional guidance and support.
CertPT
You will have to produce four written assignments during the course. All assignments must be completed to Trinity standards and you will be given lots of professional guidance and support.
How long will it take to receive my results and certificate?
CertTESOL
We will let you know your result on the last day of the course when the external moderation and assessment confirm your result. Certificates are then issued to us 4-6 weeks after the end of the course. We will inform you by email when your certificates have arrived. You may pick them up or have them mailed to you.
CertPT
Due to Trinity College London limitations, we file your work for certification when we reach the Trinity required minimum of five submissions or quarterly (every three months), whichever happens first. The quarterly submission dates are the first working day of January, April, July and October.
General questions
What is the difference between TESOL, TEFL and TESL?
TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, TEFL for Teaching English as a Foreign Language and TESL for Teaching English as a Second Language.
TEFL is mostly used in the UK and has traditionally been applied to the teaching of English to people for whom English is a foreign language and who will use English largely for short-term study, work or leisure purposes. TESL has traditionally been applied to the teaching of English to people for whom English is a second language in their home country, or people who are settling in an English-speaking country. TESOL is an umbrella term that now usually incorporates the other two acronyms.
What is the difference between Celta and the Trinity CertTESOL?
CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is a similar teacher training qualification to the Trinity CertTESOL. Although similar in their content, mode of delivery and assessment, the two courses differ in more specific components and types of moderation and assessment. Trinity emphasises reflective journal writing, professional development and self-evaluation for trainees. The British Council accepts both courses as initial TESOL or TEFL qualifications for teachers in its accredited institutions in the UK and its teaching operations overseas.
If you do more research, you will find that the Trinity CertTESOL is easier on your budget than the CELTA.
