English level: B2 / A1

Objective: Being able to express feelings, views and opinions in a varied way.

Introduction

Many words are used to express feelings, views and opinions. For example, look at how the adjective ‘unexciting’ is formed. We add the prefix ‘un-‘ and replace the ‘-e’ with ‘-ing’ at the end.

Ex. from the verb ‘excite’, you add the prefix ‘un-‘ in front, and the suffix ‘- ing’ behind, and you get the adjective ‘unexciting’.

Activity 1: Practice

Complete the sentences by forming a word (adjective) to fill each gap. (Remember that you will not always need a prefix, and sometimes you may not have to change the ending of the original word. Check your spelling.) Go through the meaning of each stem word first.
