Yes, you’ll need a student visa to study in Spain. Our Road2Spain programme for non-EU residents provides you with all the necessary documents to apply for a one-year student visa.

Students who have a European Union passport do not need a student visa to study in Spain.

However, other countries with international agreements with the European Union will find it a lot easier to get a long-term student visa. These countries include the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

If you are not a citizen of the countries mentioned above, you can also get a student visa as long as you meet the requirements set by the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your country. Therefore, to save you time and hassle, please get in touch with us before applying for one of our courses, and we will inform you of your chances of going ahead with your student visa application.

It is important to note that the letter of invitation required to obtain your student visa will only be issued after the total amount of the course has been paid.

Please note that the decision to give you a student visa is up to the Spanish Embassy or Consulate. EBC has no control over the Spanish Embassy’s or Consulate’s decision.

Yes, as a non-EU student, you can apply for work authorisation (up to 30 hours per week) once you secure a job with a school that supports this process. This allows you to earn money while studying Spanish and getting your TEFL certification.

After you get your student visa and decide that you would like to find work, you can use EBC’s job placement to try and find a language school based in Spain that will offer you a job to work up to 30 hours a week on your Student Visa.

To apply for the 30-hour work authorisation, here is a short list of what is the school must do.

  1. Fill out and sign form EX-12.
  2. Get your passport image.
  3. Write a work contract with the employer’s company ID signed by the employer and you.
  4. Write a document showing that there’s no conflict between studies and the work and your employer’s ability to financially meet its contractual obligations.

Click here for the link to the Spanish Government Student Visa web page (it’s only available in Spanish). The relevant section is “Autorización de trabajo por cuenta ajena”.

EBC accepts no responsibility for this process. The outcome is determined by the language school and the Spanish government. EBC has no influence over the final result.
