STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE to live and work in Spain with the ROAD2Spain package:

Want to live and work in Spain? If you do, follow these steps.

1. Apply now, indicating the course date you want.

Before accepting you for a course date, you will need to complete two tests. The first is a handwritten 200-word essay followed by a spoken interview via ZoomWhatsApp, or Skype. If all the tests are OK, you will receive an email offering you a place. As soon as you receive your acceptance email, we will send you a student visa request form which you must complete and email back as an attachment.

2. Make an appointment with the Spanish Consulate to secure a student visa.

Depending on where you live, you can either call them or make an appointment online.

3. Ask them for the complete list of what you need to bring.

This list will include the following:

  • Financial documents showing you have enough financial resources, pay slips, and bank statements. If you are young, just started working, and probably not financially stable, you may wish to get an affidavit of financial support. You may get this from your parents or a family member stating they will give you financial support while you are in Spain.
  • A clean Police Record
  • Health insurance for at least the first 12 months while in Spain.
  • Finally, the letter of invitation from our partner Spanish school. This is the most critical document because this letter will state that you will be a student of Spanish in a Cervantes Institute-accredited Spanish school for one year. The invitation letter will state a 1-year stay in Spain. You will give us the date when you want to enter Spain as this will be the starting date on your invitation letter.

Most of these documents will need to be apostilled, which could take time. Depending on where you live, the Police report could also take time, so you must start the paperwork in plenty of time. We recommend three months before you intend to arrive in Spain.

4. Pay for your chosen Road2Spain package

You can pay with a credit card. We accept Stripe, VISA and MasterCard. If you wish to pay with a bank transfer, let us know, and we will send you our bank details.

5. Sending of the letter of invitation:

This is the most crucial document you need to get your student visa. Unfortunately, we cannot send you the invitation letter until you have paid. It takes 5-7 working days to send a letter via standard post from Spain to most countries. As soon as the bank or the credit card company notifies us of the payment, we will post the letter of invitation to the postal address you give us. Suppose you live in a country where you think the postal service is unreliable. In that case, you are best to have the invitation letter sent by courier. There is a separate cost for the courier service, which will vary depending on where you live. We could give you a tracking number to track your document if you had the letter couriered. We wouldn’t be able to provide you with a tracking number if your letter was sent via standard post. To save on courier costs, ask the Spanish Consulate if you can send a PDF formatted letter of invitation.

6. You attend your interview on the date the Spanish Consulate gives you.

You bring all your documents, the ones we sent you and any other supporting documents you may need. They will keep your passport for one week, two weeks max.

7. They will speak to you for approximately 20 minutes, max 30 minutes.

You will then get an email or a call to pick up your passport at the Spanish Consulate. The TIE (“Tarjeta de identidad de extranjero”) or a foreigner´s ID number will be stamped on your passport when you pick it up. The TIE is a 9-digit alphanumeric identifier.

That’s it! You now have what you need to live and work in Spain.

If you’re ready to go on a Spanish adventure, talk to us today, and we’ll get you started.
