We are unstoppable! Do you want to join us on this unforgettable TEFL ride?
Hi, my name is Tita Ashton, and I am the Managing Director of Grupo EBC. There are 2 EBCs. The first one is the EBC Trinity College CertTESOL, the only Trinity College CertTESOL course provider in Madrid. The second one is EBC y Asociados Idiomas Internacional, an established and recognised language school founded in Madrid, Spain.
Our two EBCs have been working together for many years now. Our language school is strictly committed to our clients; we can only give them Trinity CertTESOL certified teachers. This is a win-win situation as we know that we are hiring highly qualified CertTESOL teachers and that our EBC CertTESOL graduates can start working as soon as they want!
Our graduates are not limited to Spain, of course. For those wanting to live and work abroad in other countries, the Worldwide and Lifetime Job Placement service gets them interviewed by our partner language schools in the city of their choice.
Now that’s what I call an effective Job Placement Programme.
I get lots of emails and messages from prospective TEFL trainees. Some of the most common concerns are:
- Do employers recognise the Trinity College CertTESOL certificate?
- Will I quickly find a job with my Trinity CertTESOL certificate? I want to work and move around the world. Can you help?
- What makes the EBC Trinity CertTESOL worldwide lifetime job placement programme different from the others?
- I am not from the EU; can I work in Spain?
- Do you prepare us to get the job and get hired?
- Am I suitable for the course?
Do employers recognise the Trinity College CertTESOL certificate?
The first question is, “I want to live and work abroad, but is your certificate globally recognised and accepted?”
There are loads of white-label courses with big advertising budgets, but only two have proper international recognition and acceptance. The online Trinity CertTESOL course is one of them.
Though there are many other concerns, finding an English teaching job after the course was almost always brought up. Most quality schools want a quality certificate. The Online 4-week Trinity CertTESOL course is known to nearly everyone looking into a career in TEFL and TESOL. They know the Online Trinity CertTESOL certificate is one of only two certificates recognised and accepted by the British Council and employers worldwide.
I want to live and work abroad and move around the world. Will I quickly find a job with my Trinity CertTESOL certificate? Can you help?
Two essential words to remember about our job placement service – Worldwide and Lifetime.
Worldwide – we can help you find that TEFL job anywhere in the world. For example, we had a very adventurous and daring young American girl who wanted to experience working in Siberia as an English teacher. She hoped that we could help her find a teaching job with children. Long story short, we helped her get an English teaching job in a Siberian Primary school, and she taught her classes in igloos! It wasn’t your ideal teaching scene, but she loved the experience! She taught in Siberia for one year, then moved on to a warmer climate; For a change, she became a language school’s Director of Studies in a much warmer country – Costa Rica. She emailed about a year ago, moved again, and now she’s in New Zealand. How’s that for a live and work abroad adventure?
Lifetime – means you can use our Job Placement service anytime you want. For example, some of our graduates, as far back as 2006, went home after a year in Madrid. They had families and worked other jobs but now want to return to teaching. They only emailed us and told us where and when they wanted to start teaching, and the Job Placement service started again. So, you never lose access to the Job Placement Service for as long as we’re around.
What makes the EBC Trinity CertTESOL worldwide lifetime job placement programme different from the others?
The increasing number of courses not accepted and recognised by the British Council forces employers to be more demanding and discriminating in selecting new EFL/ESL teaching staff.
There are more employers now who only recruit new graduates who can make an immediate contribution without a lengthy induction process.
At EBC, we value the professional training we give for that initial EFL/ESL teaching job and a future teaching career. So let me tell you about our innovative and collaborative placement and career preparation programme for trainees at the EBC Trinity College CertTESOL course.
A course tutor and a careers advisor jointly deliver the CertTESOL certificate course.
The synergy between the two programme coordinators is the key to our Programme’s success. They combine their extensive pedagogical experience, corporate experience, and career counselling skills to facilitate practical, participative workshops that develop the trainees’ employability attributes.
EBC Trinity College CertTESOL is worldwide and lifetime. You get job placement preparation, including a proforma CV which you can see and access from your EBC student zone account. This prepared CV has a standard summary of what you learned in the course. You only need to complete the objectives, personal details, and work experience (not necessarily teaching-related).
I am not from the EU; can I work in Spain?
For our non-EU applicants, we offer the Road2Spain Package. It includes the online four-week Trinity CertTESOL course, 1-year Student Visa and 1-year Spanish Programme. The Road2Spain Package starts with the four-week online Trinity CertTESOL course. After your 4-week course, you come to Spain with your one-year Student Visa, allowing you to study Spanish for one year and work up to 30 hours a week as an English teacher. In addition, you are issued a TIE (foreigner’s card) stating that you are authorised to work.
Do you prepare us to get the job and get hired?
Our job placement preparation is a structured and dynamic programme of workshops aimed at career planning/career opportunities, placement preparation and job interview techniques.
Our job workshops cover CV writing, recruitment process advice, interview techniques, and mock interviews, which involve tutors’ and career advisers’ assessments and feedback. In addition, you are required to give brief presentations and conduct interviews as interviewers and interviewees. These exercises develop your interpersonal and communication skills and give you confidence as an EFL/ESL teacher.
The job workshops also deal with opportunities and preferences based on geographical employer demands.
Specific case studies and experiences of previous trainees, student advisers, and tutors are all discussed in the workshops. You are also advised on further training you might want to go into for specific posts. For example, these specialised roles can work as an examiner for official exams such as the IELTS, and TOEFL, trainer for CertTESOL courses, Course Director, Director of Studies, English as a Foreign Language Dept Head, etc.
There is a presentation given to graduating trainees by a senior manager of a hiring language school. This highlights the Programme’s credibility and the competitive nature of the recruitment process.
In mock interviews, ‘killer questions’ are discussed, and we suggest the appropriate answers. Great English teaching jobs are around, but these jobs will not be open to you unless you are professionally trained.
Our prospective applicants more than often become our trainees. They find that they receive precisely, if not more than, what they were told at the fact-finding time.
Some trainee comments from our recent courses:
Conor
“The company had been recommended to me by someone who knew I was interested in doing a course in Madrid. So I applied for this company and another one, but this process moved faster, so I went with EBC.”
Karunya
“I was looking for a course that combined quality training with a Spanish student visa. In addition, the double certification and Trinity accreditation was appealing because in India as well, Trinity is considered a very high level. Tita’s prompt responses over months of my indecisiveness finally made the decision very easy. She always answered all my questions any time of the week before I enrolled in the Programme. It made me feel like this was a course where the company and trainers cared about students and wanted to find solutions that would work for us.”
Adriana
“I was looking for a serious, dependable certificate, so I did a long search to conclude that the only ones were CELTA and CertTESOL. I was undecided between the two; let’s say that the moment’s sensations guided the choice…I had seen that Trinity College has schools all over Europe. I could also have taken the course in Rome, but the idea was to move to Spain. Madrid would have been the right compromise; I chose you. My programmes changed anyway, and I am still in Italy (another story). The chat with Tita also helped me to decide.”
Lindsi
“I chose this course over others mainly for the visa. There was one other which provided a visa as well. Still, I chose Trinity because of the accreditation and reputation of the school. Also, I thought the quality of education would be better than others.”
Jennifer
“The course dates fit well with the time I had available; also, your online information was quite clear. I could easily see and understand the layout and day-by-day schedule for the course (which, surprisingly, not many other courses were very clear on). Also, the price was reasonable, and the timing though not ideal, was manageable.”
Am I suitable for the course?
During the fact-finding stage, many non-native English speakers express their doubts about their eligibility for the course. For example, one trainee from Italy was not sure if she was suitable for the course because she was a non-native English speaker. We have trained non-native English speakers from Spain, The Philippines, Russia, Brazil, Turkey, Kenya, Romania, France, Brazil, Belorussia, The Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the list continues.
To be able to attend the Trinity CertTESOL course, you need to pass two pre-admission tests. The first is the 200-word handwritten assignment to check writing skills. The second is a spoken interview to test comprehension and speaking skills.
Trainees must also have a minimum C1 level of English. The handwritten essays I receive are mainly good; the sentence construction, vocabulary, punctuation, and grammar are all spot on. Based on my experience, in most cases, the level shown on the written test will likely be the same as the spoken level. Luckily, most applicants to the course make the grade.
